ACM Laboratory offers a NATA accredited service for the calibration of the highest accuracy grades of gauge blocks by comparison and laser interferometer methods. The gauge blocks are measured in environmentally (temperature) controlled (20 ± 0.5 ˚C) laboratory using special equipment designed and built by ACM Laboratory metrologist.
Specification Standards
- AS 1457
- BS 4311
Gauge Block Grades
- Grade 0
- Grade 1 (Inspection)
- Grade 2 (Workshop)
Gauge Block Types and Calibration Features
- Rectangular gauge block sets with blocks from 0.5 to 100mm (4 inch) are examined central length, variation in length and flatness.
- Gauge blocks (rectangular or square) > 100mm/4 inch are not calibrated to a particular standard. Central length, parallelism and flatness are measured on each block.
- For gauge block sets ≤0.5mm (0.02 inch) or individual blocks <0.5mm (0.02 inch), these would be examined for the central length only.
- Gauge blocks ≤0.5mm that are not of the general cross section dimensions (9 x 30 or 9 x 35mm).
